Recycling restrictions associated with dried and hardened glue quickly become a thing of the past with GreenLay™, a major innovation in installation from Tarkett Sports Indoor. GreenLay™ allows Omnisports 6.5 & 8.3 to be installed 98% adhesive free with a moisture tolerance of up to 15lbs/92% RH.
This unique installation method that dramatically cuts down on time and costs is made possible thanks to Omnisports’ unique manufacturing process and reinforced fiberglass core that promotes dimensional stability and lay-flat results. The scientifically engineered weight of the system and honeycomb backing ensure that the surface remains firmly in place over time.
GreenLay™ also offers unique environmental benefits as the omission of adhesive between the backing and the base allow for efficient removal and recycling of the product at the end of its lifecycle.

A classical installation of a glued sport vinyl surface presents many constraints such as:

At the end of the surface’s life:
The GreenLay™ installation method is unique to Tarkett Sports’ Omnisports thanks to the following product benefits:
Continuous manufacturing process: For more than 20 years, Tarkett Sports has been at the cutting edge of technology and is still the only manufacturer to use this exclusive process for its thick PVC products. This process adds strength and stability to the product’s core and structure, allowing it to lay flat and in place over time.
Calendered underlayer reinforced with fiberglass: Tarkett Sports developed a unique coating system on stabilizing fiberglass. This exclusive method ensures excellent dimensional stability.
Weight of the system: Getting more floor than you bargained for is what Tarkett Sports is all about. Every Omnisports surface is supported by a scientifically engineered structural weight. This mass contributes to the durability and longevity of the product in addition to stabilizing benefits.
Honeycomb suction backing: Only Tarkett Sports’ Omnisports features a honeycomb backing designed to increase the grip between the product and the base. It is this special backing that helps keep the surface in place in the absence of adhesive.
In 1995, Tarkett’s R&D team developed a new technical process designed to dramatically reduce the time, cost and environmental impact of installing Omnisports. Thinking not just outside but beyond the box, they succeeded in developing GreenLay™. This innovative method of installation deviated dramatically from a classical fully glued installation, and could be performed in even the most demanding moisture environments. After more than 15 years, the initial test sites of GreenLay™ are still in use and problem free!
More than just an installation method, Tarkett implemented unique manufacturing processes in order to produce a synthetic sports floor that could not only be installed without a dependence on adhesive and ideal environmental conditions, but could maintain high levels of consistent performance and playability over time.
Desipte having been used successfully in Europe for 15+ years, Tarkett Sports Indoor North America made sure to test GreenLay™ in the USA before launching it. After coming across a severe moisture related issue with an installation in California at the start of 2010 Tarkett Sports Indoor jumped on the opportunity to put GreenLay™ into action. The testimonial below confirms the revolutionary benefits of the GreenLay™ installation method for Omnisports 6.5 &8.3.
“At Live Oak our gym is used around the clock for both sports and non-sports activities. While walking the floor during a maintenance inspection one day we realized that bubbles and waves were noticeable in the surface. After calling our local Tarkett Sports flooring representative we quickly determined that sub-surface moisture was being trapped by the adhesive and causing the floor to fail. Some areas revealed as much as 15 lbs of moisture. Tarkett Sports suggested that we install Omnisports using a new installation method called GreenLay™ that had been successful in Europe under these same conditions. In no time the old surface was being taken up and Omnisports GreenLay™ was put into action. I couldn’t believe how quick it took them to get the floor down and for our kids to get back to playing. It has been almost a year now since we gave GreenLay™ a try and twice a week I walk the floor looking for bubbles in the surface and there simply aren‘t any. The floor has held up great even with our moisture issues and the kids and school love it. We couldn’t be happier.”
